Instant Pot BBQ Pork Spare Ribs
Ingredients:
2 1/4 pounds pork spare ribs
1 cup water
1 stick cinnamon
2 star anise
1 bay leaf
8 peppercorns
1 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons fresh ginger
1 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon fresh garlic
1 tablespoon 5-spice powder
4 tablespoons BBQ sauce
Directions:
Remove membrane from back of ribs.
Add water to Instant Pot and place trivet on bottom of pot. Place ribs on trivet and season with salt. Lay cinnamon stick, bay leaf, peppercorns, star anise, garlic and ginger on top of ribs. Cover and move valve to sealing position. Hit Pressure Cook for 20 minutes.
Allow to naturally release for 10 minutes, then move valve to quick release until pin drops. Remove ribs.
In a work cold fry the ribs and add the BBQ sauce and 5 spice and fry till a nice crust develops, or you can place ribs in oven and broil for 5 minutes or until ribs bubble and look crisp.
